What kind of things have I just given into? There are beliefs that I have made and they influence my attitude and my daily walk and expectations. This simple little things that my mind plays on me causes me to just get “stinkin’ thinkin'”. Many times it is people and many times the enemy that negotiates convinces me of the contracts with my belief system. We have a conscious understanding that our higher power, Jesus Christ and God know what we are thinking and what we are going through, but the dangerous thing is that also the devil knows our story and he too plays his hand in the game or our life.
I question myself, “have I made any agreements about who I am? Do I limit my ability with agreements with Satan?”
It is like just taking suggestions and ideas and then begin believing them and living by them. I can say that I don’t like cheesecake and I can convince myself with some motives and get to a point where I passionately act and behave as if I don’t like cheesecake, but in truth, I have never really had any reason to not like it. Now cheesecake is one thing, but what about thoughts such as “I am not athletic”, “I am fat”, “I don’t have any friends”. No matter how plain those statements are, they can impact how I live my days. They drive my decisions, my reactions and influence my character.
- New Grass, really? I refuse to agree!
Now the nasty part of these decisions are that our enemy can use the simple tactic to get us to buy into some really stupid concepts and take a foothold on our life, to impair the ability we have for God’s good.
“Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.” – Ephesians 4:27
We can get deceived and we are most vulnerable when we are in pain and wounded. We have a wound, we receive a message and create an agreement. Now sometimes it seems like we have no choice, or we hear the message and think that it is the only truth that could possibly be. But we need to “hear” the message. It is evident the messages that are not from the Lord, and we are protected. We need to understand that we are not just left to be alone and struggle with our pain and get forced into a bad agreement.
“Jesus said, ‘I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky. See what I’ve given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that’s the agenda for rejoicing.'” – Luke 10:19
We have the right to question the agreements in our life. To renounce the agreements that we have agreed with about our life and to pursue better life and not limit our joy and abilities in this life.
